We offer two different bison hunts on 20,000 acres of private land. There is no high fence and the bison roam freely over this historic ranch located in the New Mexico highlands. The Santa Fe Trail runs through the ranch near Wagon Mound, New Mexico.

 

    The first hunt is a Bison Bull Hunt. These bulls are from 2 - 4 years of age. They have good horn size, plush robes and the meat is excellent. The hunt is conducted from a four- wheel drive vehicle and consists of spotting and stalking.  This hunt is guaranteed and 30 caliber weapons or larger are recommended. Even these younger bulls can be hard to bring down.  The price of $2,800.00 includes meals, lodging, full guide service and field preparation of the meat, hide and head. Processing is available in Raton, New Mexico for around 50 cents per pound. 

 

    The second hunt is a Trophy Bison Bull Hunt.   It is very similar to the bison bull hunt except that these are huge old bulls ranging from 5-10 years of age. These bulls have massive heads and horns and can weigh over a ton. These bulls make impressive mounts, however the robes generally have some scars from battles with the other bulls  for herd dominance. The meat isn't as tender as the younger bulls yet is still good and there is a lot of it.  Big guns are a MUST. These old bulls are really tough and often require multiple shots in vital areas to bring them down. Although they look slow and cumbersome, they aren't and can out maneuver and out run the fastest horse. A wounded bull can be very dangerous and should not be taken lightly or under estimated. The price of the hunt is $3,800.00 which includes meals, lodging, full guide service, field preparation of the bull, hide and head.
